Welcome Reception

Time: Sunday, June 26 at 19.00-21.00
Venue: Espoo Cultural Centre
Address: Kulttuuriaukio 2, Espoo

The ISIT 2022 General Chairs are happy to invite you to a welcome reception cordially organized by the City of Espoo at the Espoo Cultural Centre. Drinks and finger food will be provided.

The reception is included in the conference participation fee. If you arrive late, you can come directly to the welcome reception even if you have not picked up your name badge yet. In this case, please sign up to one of our volunteers when arriving at the reception.

The cultural centre is 1 stop on the metro + a short walk from the venue. The walking distance from the venue is about 2 km. Departure (guided walk) from the conference venue, Otakaari 1 main lobby, at 18.30.

Getting there on your own: Take the metro to Tapiola station. Head towards exits C & D, first following signs “Ulos A-D / Ut, exit”, then signs “Ulos C-D / Ut, exit”. This will lead you to an underground entrance to the Ainoa shopping center, located at the M-floor of the center. Once inside Ainoa, follow signs “Kulttuurikeskus / Kulturcentrum”, first straight ahead, then right and immediately left to elevators. Get two floors up, to floor 2. Continue right when exiting the elevator, keep following the signs until you exit the shopping center. The cultural centre is 100 m away, almost straight ahead, a bit to the right. Please note that navigation apps are clueless about Tapiola metro station, thus they give seriously suboptimal information on, e.g., how to get from the conference venue to the reception.

Banquet Dinner

Time: Thursday, June 30 at 19.00-22.00
Venue: Pikku-Finlandia
Address: Karamzininranta 4, Helsinki
Dress code: Smart casual

The Banquet Dinner is included in the conference participation fee. Registration is required. If you have not registered but would like to join, please contact asap.

Please put your special meal ticket in front of you once you have taken your seat. Note that not all wines are vegan (notify your waiter/waitress if you wish for vegan wine).

Accompanying guests are welcome to attend the conference banquet by purchasing an Extra Conference Dinner Ticket (120€). If you want to buy an accompanying dinner ticket after registration, please contact asap.

Getting there: Subway to Rautatientori/Railway Square, Exit A towards Elielinaukio. Walk (15min) towards Holiday Inn hotel and by the Oodi Library. Pikku Finlandia will soon be on the left.

6G Tbps and Low-Power Channel Coding is Feasible.

By: Huazi Zhang

6G aims to provide universal high-performance wireless connections and ultimate experience with speeds comparable to optical fibers, Tbps data rate and extremely low energy-per-bit error correction channel coding technology is one of the grand-challenges. However, what is the “gap” of the state-of-the-art implementation against this target we envisioned? In this presentation, we will first demonstrate some enabling technologies to achieve extreme connectivity through a newly designed prototype featuring ultra-low power consumption, ultra-high throughput, and ultra-low latency for short-range communications using the 70 GHz mm Wave spectrum. Next, we focus on channel coding schemes as the key enabler for ultra-high throughput and low power consumption. The requirements boil down to area efficiency and energy efficiency, because a wireless device has very limited chip area and energy source. With these criteria, we review and summarize the latest progress on terabits-per-second throughput decoders for polar, LDPC and other codes. Multiple candidate coding and decoder designs from both academia and industry show very promising results in this regard. They show that Tbps and low-power channel coding will be practical for 6G mobile communications.
